About Us

Acts 11:26

"... And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people.

And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch."

Who We Are

We are undenominational and have no central headquarters or president. The head of the church is none other than Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23).

Each congregation of the churches of Christ is autonomous, and it is the Word of God that unites us into One Faith (Ephesians 4:3-6).

We follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and his holy Apostles, and not the teachings of man. We are Christians only!

What to Expect Our History

Our Philosophy

We speak where the Bible speaks, and we are silent where the Bible is silent.

What to Expect

Oh come let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our maker!

Psalm 95:6-7

What to Expect

  • When do Services Start

Our Sunday School Services starts at 9:30 a.m. - 10:25 a.m. we have 5 classes for every age and every stage.

Our Sunday morning and evening services begin at 10:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., respectively. We are more traditional in nature but are both contemporary and charismatic.

Our Sunday services consists of singing songs of praise, praying corporately, spending time greeting one another, and receiving the word of God from the man of God. Every Sunday, there are 5 items of worship in our service to God:

  • Prayer

During the worship service several of the men will lead the congregation in public prayers.

Acts 2:42 "And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

  • Singing

We will sing several songs and hymns together, led by one or more song leaders. These will be sung a capella (withoutthe accompaniment of musical instruments). We sing in this manner because it follows the pattern of the first century church and this is the only kind of music authorized in the New Testament for worship. Ephesians 5:19 "speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,"

  • The Lord's Supper

We partake of the Lord’s Supper each Sunday, following the pattern of the first century church.

Acts 20:7 "Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight." In partaking of the Lord’s Supper we remember the Lord’s death until He comes again.

  • Giving

We give a donation for the work of the church each first day of the week, realizing that God has richly blessed each of us. The church supports many good works that require financial support. 1st Corinthians 16:2 "On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come."

  • Bible Study (Preach)

We engage in Bible study, primarily through preaching of the Word, but also through Bible reading and direct teaching.

2nd Timothy 4:1–2 "I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and teaching."

At the close of the sermon, an invitation will be extended to any who wish to respond.

To learn more about Christianity, to become a Christian or to ask for prayers of the church, please make your need known. Our worship service is considered traditional for churches of Christ.  It is not contemporary or instrumental. We strive to worship God in Spirit and Truth.  John 4:24 "God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

  • What about my Children?

Children are welcome and encouraged to stay with you during service.  We also have a quiet room available where service can be seen and heard for your convenience.

  • As a Visitor, sill I have to say anything or be singled out?

You will not be asked to say anything or introduce yourself as a visitor.  As our way of welcoming you, we do ask all of our First Time Visitors to stand so that we may greet you.  You will be given a guest information card to fill out if you would like more information about our church.  If you prefer not to stand though, that is fine, too.  We do not want you to do anything that would make you feel uncomfortable.

  • If I need prayer, will the Church pray for me?

10th avenue is a praying church.  We have intercessory prayer before each service.

If you are in need of prayer, please feel free to come forward during the invitation at the conclusion of service as well.  We would love to pray for you.

If you wish, you may send prayer requests through the PRAYER REQUEST link on our Home page.  Your request will be forwarded to one of our church moderators.

  • Will I have a chance to meet the Minister?

Brother Harper looks forward to meeting visitors and spending time with members after each service. He is usually available at the front of the church immediately following service to receive guests and members, as well as speak with those who have questions about the church or the message of the morning.

  • Will I be asked to give an offering?

As a guest you are welcome, but not expected, to make an offering.  The Tithes and Offerings portion of our service is a time of celebration at 10th Ave.  Our members are excited to give as part of their commitment to God and the Kingdom.

  • Need More Information?
